Open job vacancies at Una Europa vzw

Eleven leading European research universities have come together to create a unique alliance – Una Europa. The Una Europa partners are Freie Universität Berlin, University College Dublin, Universitá di Bologna, University of Edinburgh, University of Helsinki, Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie, Leiden University, KU Leuven, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and Universität Zurich. Una Europa aims to draw on our collective strengths to create a truly European interuniversity environment, a University of the Future.

Una Europa has been formally established as a non-profit association under Belgian law (vzw) on to ensure the sustainability of the alliance. The objectives of the association are inter alia to promote cooperation between the university partners, to create a culture of excellence in education and research and to contribute to the development of the European Education Area and the European Research Area.

In July 2021, Una Europa was selected by the European Commission to implement a large-scale and ambitious roll-out project in the coming four to six years, which will allow us to develop into a truly integrated European University of the Future. This will entail both widening through enlargement of the partnership and deepening in terms of integrating our education and research activities and taking them to the next level.

We currently have three job vacancies open at Una Europa vzw to support the implementation of the rollout project. The three positions will work from the office in central Brussels and will suit professionals that are driven by working in a fast-moving, international environment.

Senior Governance Officer (full time)

Roles and Responsibilities

• In close collaboration with the Secretary-General, further development and central coordination of the alliance’s consolidated strategy and governance structure, representing and engaging a broader range of stakeholders to ensure Quality Assurance of the alliance across all its activities, including coordinating the engagement of:

- Vice rectors responsible for research or equivalent

- Vice rectors responsible for education or equivalent

- Student Board

  • Collaboration with Una Europa Local Senior Leads
  • Contribution to Una.Universitas Project management team
  • Contribution to the development of clearly defined Quality Management Plan for the Alliance, based on a concise list of clearly defined qualitative indicators and allowing for effective implementation of the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) cycle, transparent to all stakeholders
  • Contribution to reporting on milestones and achievements in relation to Una Europa 2030 Strategy
  • Overseeing the reporting requirements for Una Europa vzw’s engagement in roll-out project, with support of Operations Officer.

 

Profile and skills

• Preferably 5-10 years of relevant work experience managing large, innovative and international collaboration projects within a higher education environment

• Experience in translating broad transnational strategies into action and implementation

• Ability to develop and manage collaborative working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

• Ability to balance a long-term helicopter view with a short-term drive for results

• Effective communications at all levels often covering complex subjects. A consultative style, with the ability to influence and engage others.

• Experience in budget and people management, EU funding experience is a bonus

• Minimum requirement: Master Degree

• Native level of English (spoken and written); other languages are an advantage

• Creative, innovative and hands-on approach.

 

Communications Manager (full time)

Roles and responsibilities

• Coordinate the development and implementation of Una Europa’s overarching communications strategy at central level, in support of the broad Una Europa 2030 Strategy, including:

- Managing the alliance’s approach to brand an enabling effective cross-alliance implementation

- In close collaboration with the Secretary-General, advising the alliance’s editorial strategy and managing relationships with key stakeholders across the alliance to enable horizon-scanning, prioritization and resource allocation from a communications perspective

- Building a community building, outreach and dissemination strategy for the alliance

- Developing and implementing processes to support effective ways of working on communications across the alliance, including coordinating the meetings of the Una Europa Communications Leads

- Collaboration with external agencies to deliver the Una Europa communications strategy

- Providing advice on development of Una Europa online community building platform.

 

Profile and skills

• Preferably 10 years of relevant work experience in communications, ideally within a higher education environment

• Experience in communications for a large-scale EU funded project desirable

• Ability to work independently and to develop and manage collaborative working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

• Ability to create and execute an engaging communications vision targeted at internal and external audiences to support the strategy of Una Europa

• Creative, innovative and hands-on approach

• Minimum requirement: Master Degree

• Native level of English (spoken and written); other languages are an advantage

 

Digital Communications Officer (full time)

Role and responsibilities

• Leading the delivery of the Una Europa communications strategy through centralized channels, including:

- In close collaboration with the Communications Manager, developing and implementing a coordinated digital communications plan and central website to nurture growth of the Una Europa community

- Managing Una Europa social media channels and digital content to optimize followership, reach and engagement, including development of an editorial calendar and related assets

- Developing a communications toolkit for Una Europa community

- Liaising with colleagues across the alliance on planning, development and promotion of outputs to inform the overarching strategy

- Regularly evaluating communications activity to support continuous improvement

Profile and skills

• Preferably 5 years of relevant work experience in communications

• Ability to develop state-of-the-art communications to actively support the overall communications strategy

• Experience in digital communications and driving of engagement, reach and followship

• Ability to work independently and to develop collaborative working relationships with a range of stakeholders

• Creative, innovative and hands-on approach with a strong drive for results • Preferable minimum requirement: Master Degree

• Native level of English (spoken and written); other languages are an advantage.
